'Chaos, Order' - Newsprint Portfolio
Broadsheet zine, 2nd edition. Limited to 20 copies.
Chaos, Order intends to explore the concept of unrepeatability and the subjectivity within the creation of the new. I execute this via the means of gesture and natural human fallibility; how an action can be performed in the same manner x number of times, but never identically. Capturing the results of these actions is the camera, which, paradoxically, executes the same process repeatedly with expected results. The work itself consists of multiple large scale prints of grids, with many similar photographs. None are identical; a degree of the artist’s subjectivity is applied to every image, but is only ever implied, as is a conversation on the wider art sphere, and our individual perceptions of what art can be.
The paper is designed to be taken apart and seen in full, thus creating a new gesture in itself.
